I’m an X-Felon with PTSD and, a dozen convictions hung around my neck. I’ve been judged, sentenced and stigmatized—for life. Fortunately, I’ve also had the love and support of my family, friends, and an amazing community. Besides being an ex-prisoner, I’m also a residential contractor and electrician, empowered with plenty of opportunities to provide for my family. I didn’t plan to be a felon and, I never imagined I’d be a writer either. Nonetheless, Daedalus was born in a prison cell; a madman scribbling runes to make sense of wrong. A budding awareness in pursuit of enlightenment. It’s the pen name I employ, and how I learned to soar.
I’m writing about my life to connect with people wrapped in isolation. I am writing for the ones kept in cages and force-fed despair. I was nourished three times a day in prison: spoon fed and babied till I knew nothing but dependence. Nineteen years imprisoned should have been the end for anyone but surprisingly, I’ve managed to salvage an amazing life. Oftentimes, simple moments cause me to cry uncontrollably, overloaded with emotion because I’m no longer buried alive in a prison hole, begging for death to sneak my way.
We are starting work on an Earthship style sustainable home, and I’d like to share this process with people mired in prison. Subscribe to daedalusink.com . Share my thoughts and experiences with loved ones in need of hope. A sustainable home eliminates the leverage of basic needs; It deletes the dependance guileful middleman exploit to manage populations. Let’s explore the opportunities that sustainable homes offer. Via construction principles, we’ll dig into physics, thermodynamics and agriculture; working to provide genuine freedom. Our families need us to lead them out of this colonial oppression. Quit giving up and being dependent; rise, work and fight alongside of me for a healthy future: one filled with freedom, justice and opportunities—for All.
