About Daedalus Ink
Nobody thought their loved one would end up in a cage, and yet there they are.
The Daedalus Ink project aims to shed light on the concept of freedom inside and outside of prison walls as well as to provide resources and opportunities to help the casualties of mass incarceration.
About Raúl
I know what it's like to see your loved one suffer because I was that son who broke my parents’ hearts. But my family never gave up on me.
I’m an ex-felon with PTSD and a dozen convictions hung around my neck. I’ve been judged, sentenced and stigmatized — for life. Fortunately, I’ve also had the love and support of my family, friends, and an amazing community.
Besides being an ex-prisoner, I’m also a residential contractor and electrician, empowered with plenty of opportunities to provide for my family.
I didn’t plan to be a felon, and I never imagined I’d be a writer, either. Nonetheless, Daedalus was born in a prison cell — a madman scribbling runes to make sense of wrong, a budding awareness in pursuit of enlightenment. It’s the pen name I employ, and how I learned to soar.
